I’m Amr Diab, a friendly fellow in his early thirties. People find me to be an upbeat, outgoing, detail-oriented, self-motivated person with high energy levels and boundless enthusiasm 🦸♂️. I make my living doing the stuff I love the most! Providing tech consultations and building web applications 👨💻 that make people happy and productive! I specialize in back-end web development using PHP/Laravel, besides managing and maintaining web servers.
As a teenager, I enjoyed learning about and building computers 💻. That’s why I was motivated to study anything related to computers, so later on I joined the faculty of computers and information to get my Bachelor's Degree in IT. Even though I specialized in IT in college I also studied the basics of Java, basics of C#, the fundamentals of OOP, web development. During college, I completed the Cisco® CCNA Routing and Switching course as part of the Cisco Networking Academy® program, finished training in web design, and participated in countless tech summits, meetups, and events. After graduating from college in 2015, a true journey of self-discovery began 🗺. I immediately started working as a freelance web developer building and maintaining web apps for a multitude of clients and agencies while I kept building upon my experience, learning new tools, and acquiring new skills. Early 2017, besides my freelance career I decided to take on new challenges and join teams as a full-time software engineer marking the start of a new chapter in my career full of passion, enthusiasm, and achievements 🥇🥇.
My work is something I do with a lot of honesty, appetite, and commitment. Over the past years, I had the opportunity to work with some amazing clients and companies from all over the world (both freelancing & full-time). I don’t like to define myself by the work I’ve done. I define myself by the work I want to do 🚀. Skills can be taught, personality is inherent. I prefer to keep challenging myself and do interesting things that matter. I’m currently a lead developer at QewamX, and remotely working with a selected freelance client base of startups and organizations providing tech consultations and strategic guidance to help them reach their goals.
Collaboration & Open Source
I enjoy working with nice people because everything becomes so much easier. After all, time is too precious to spend it doing something you dislike. I’ve always been fascinated by open source and how it encourages innovation through collaboration 🤝. For years I took open source products for granted, so I thought it's about time to give back to the community, and so I did. I have contributed to the Laravel framework itself, with some small tweaks. It might not be much but definitely won’t be the last. I have also started sharing my expertise and findings on Twitter and communities like laracasts.com; helping others and expanding my knowledge at the same time 👌.
In my free time, I love playing video games 🎮. Some of my all-time favorites are (Assassin’s Creed franchise – RDR2 – Far Cry franchise – Resident Evil franchise – Alien Isolation – The Witcher 3 – Dishonored 2 - Bioshock). I also enjoy reading books 📚, playing guitar 🎸, and working out 🏋️♂️ (without bragging about it 😄). I also like watching documentaries about space, wildlife, and ancient civilizations.
My all-time favorite TV shows 📺: Peaky Blinders, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Mr. Robot, Narcos, Spartacus, The Witcher, Sherlock, Game of Thrones.
